Haakon J. Bjørum
is an Associate Advisor of Icon Capital with special expertise in the oil- and gas segment. Mr Bjørum has extensive experience from the oil- and gas industry both in Norway and internationally, as well as investment experience. Mr Bjørum became involved with Icon Capital for the first time in September 2004 in the assessment of the portfolio company Abbon. Mr. Bjørum has in recent years been extensively involved in family business investments. Mr Bjørum was prior to that a senior consultant to ECON Analyse AS, from 2003-2004. Key focus was analysis of the petroleum industry in Norway and internationally, including value chain analysis, implications of deregulating gas markets and the organization and regulation of the Norwegian oil and gas industry. Previous experience includes eight years for ConocoPhillips internationally and two years for Royal Dutch/Shel in Norway. Mr. Bjørum was Business Development Co-ordinator for ConocoPhillips gas activities in Europe. He was based in the Company’s London office during this period (1996-1998). Before moving to London Mr. Bjørum was an Advisor within investment appraisals for ConocoPhillips in Houston, Texas, U.S.A. (1991-1994). In addition, Mr. Bjørum worked two years as an Economics Engineer for Royal Dutch/Shell in Stavanger, Norway (1987-1988). Key focus included evaluations and proposals of E&P acquisitions and divestitures on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and benchmarking of Shell’s operating performance vs. competitors.
Mr. Bjørum received his Bachelor of Science Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, U.S.A. He was elected President of Engineering Honour Society. Mr. Bjørum received his MBA in 1991 from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago/Evanston, USA (#1 ranked graduate business school in the US by Business Week’s semi annual MBA assessment/ranking).
